I grew up on a family farm just east of Innisfail. Both my mother and father were very busy outside looking after a large vegetable garden, 300 or so acres of grain land, 2000 laying hens, 200 laying turkeys, ducks, geese, lots of cattle and a large barn full of pigs. It was just natural to me to become a farmer. I was member of the Knee Hill Valley 4H Beef Club and the Buttons & Bows 4H Sewing Club for many years.

I attended Olds Agricultural College, and then married my long time friend and neighbor, Doug Edgar. We have two awesome daughters, Keri & Angela who are grown up and are married with 3 amazing grandchildren. Doug & I own and operate on his family’s 1500 acre farm along with Keri, her husband Randy and two of our grandchildren making the 6th. generation.  I am a farmer and am heavily involved in the planting of our annual vegetable crops, the hand harvesting and packing, the commercial kitchen,  the staffing  and the marketing of our market garden vegetable operation. I assist with calving the cows on the spring before asparagus season and am the chief combine driver come fall after the vegetables are finished.

My second favorite time is calving season. Those baby calves are just so darn cute.

My favorite time of the year is asparagus season, that “bend & pick & eat” asparagus tastes absolutely incredible.
